Spotlight on two Sheffield Charities at Victoria Hall Sheffield

Coming up to Christmas we often take time to reflect and think about those who are less fortunate than us. At Victoria Hall we are proud to work all year round with charities who help the vulnerable people.

Two local charities who are calling the Victoria Hall their home are The Sunday Centre, and HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas.

The Sunday Centre have been at Victoria Hall for so long, no-noe is quite sure when their work here started. Their mission is to work with Sheffield’s most vulnerable adults who are homeless or without family and support by providing them with free meals, a warm environment, entertainment, company and essential clothing every Sunday. Many of the guests attending Sunday Service are affected by poverty, substance issues, addictions, metal health issues or social exclusion. The guests and volunteers encompass a broad range of races, faiths, and cultures and everyone is welcome to attend sessions.

Secondly HARC (Homeless and Rootless at Christmas) is brand new to Victoria Hall and we are really excited to be hosting their Christmas support sessions this year for the first time in this building. Their offering of Christmas food and a freindly face, plus hairdressing and chiropody has become an established annual weekly event, and we are very proud to be able to support them in their work, to make a real difference over the Christmas period whilst many other services are closed.

Recently both charities generously contributed towards our amazing kitchen transformation alongside grant money from The National Lottery Community fund, bringing a basic kitchen area up to a commercial standard with new electric range oven, two large fridges, a dishwasher, shelving and new work surfaces - and a fresh coat of paint gave the final touch.

We have also reassigned space in the adjoining Lower Hall to make a fantastic cook and eat space.

Our partnership with these charities allows us to give back to the community and provide valuable services for a range of people in Sheffield and surrounding areas.

We would really like this great refurbished space to benefit a number of other community groups and charities all year round - so if you would like any information about this great space…..Contact the team on admin@victoriahallsheffield.org
